Description
Paraffin Gauze Dressing Sterile BP (Light Loading) is used as a primary wound contact layer for treatment of burns, ulcers, skin grafts, surface wounds and traumatic injuries.
It is made of cotton open - mesh leno weave and impregnated with yellow soft paraffin. Dressing is impregnated with paraffin is applied first to reduce the adherence of the dressing with the wound. An appropriate secondary dressing is then applied on the wound.
Two formulations of Paraffin Gauze Dressings are available with different Paraffin weight per square meter of cloth. These are ' Light Loading ' and ' Normal Loading ' . Light loading consists between 90 -130 gm of paraffin per square meter of cloth and Normal Loading consists no less than 175gm of paraffin per square meter of cloth.
Paraffin Dressing Light Loading is used on heavily exuding wounds to help the absorption of wound exudate by the secondary dressing.
